Not only...but also...谓语动词用就近原则.
Not only you but also he is a teacher.
as well as 谓语动词由前面主语决定
He ,as well as his friends,likes singing.
Not only... but also...连接的前后两部分必须是相同的类型或性质
例如：He’s not only funny, but also he’s intelligent.
这句就用得不当，因为连接的两部分分别是“funny”和“he’s intelligent”，前者是形容人的特点，后者却是一个事实。所以要改成：
He's not only funny bu...

这里funny和intelligent就相对应了。
再举一例：
When writing, consider not only your topic but also your audience.
这里your topic和your audience相对应
as well as和Not only... but also...意义相近，可以通用，但还是有些细微区别
例如：She is clever as well as beautiful. (= She is not only beautiful, but also clever.)
译成：她即漂亮又聪明
但要注意的是as well as后面的部分是读者已经知道的信息，即她长得漂亮， 而句中其余的部分却要介绍的是新信息，即她还很有头脑
所以整句可译成：她除了长得漂亮外，还很有头脑
当as well as后面跟动词时， 通常用分词形式，即加-ing
例如：He hurt his arm, as well as breaking his leg.
而不是：He hurt his arm, as well as break his leg.
当然，加入连接前面的部分是动词不定式，那么as well as后面的不定式可以省去to，所以看上去后面直接跟了动词原形。
例如：I have to clean the floors as well as cook the food
这里其实后面是to cook，其中的to给省略了
